DBCG - Danish Breast Cancer Cooperative Group

In 1976, The Danish Breast Cancer Cooperative Group (DBCG) was established by the Danish Surgical Society with the aim of ensuring optimal diagnostics and treatment of operable primary breast cancer on a nation-wide basis. To achieve this purpose the DBCG has worked out uniform guidelines for the whole country, and subsequently the surgical treatment as well as radiotherapy and systemic treatment has been developed further and evaluated by performing randomized trials.

Since 1977, DBCG has initiated 7 generations of treatment programs confined to invasive and non-invasive primary breast cancer, and these programs have included detailed descriptions of procedures, treatments, current trials, and case report forms.

At the very beginning of the DBCG a clinical database was formed, and since then the involved departments of surgery, histopathology, radiotherapy and medical oncology have submitted systematic reports of diagnostics, treatment, and follow-up by means of standardized data forms.

The new statutes of DBCG have not yet been translated.
